Trying out Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition

I got the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition a few days ago and had time to sit down and get to know it yesterday. I got it mostly for drawing and painting (in bed or sofa) since I've heard it's the best tablet for that.

So far I really like it. It's pretty quick and responsive and I didn't feel to much lag drawing. It's so hard to reset the mind and not think Photoshop & Wacom and to get used to not having all the fancy luxury stuff as in PS for PC. But when I get a hang of it I think it will work out well. The program I used yesterday was SketchBook for Galaxy, an app that came with the tablet. It has the option of palm rejection which works really well. You can still use your fingers to zoom and color pick. This app allows layers too but I didn't figure out if one can save a layered file.

To give the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition a fair verdict when it comes to draw/paint on it I need more specialized apps that I know exists out there, but so far so good. It works much better than I first thought it would!

Here's a pic of the tablet and my first test painting on it, absolutely not a masterpiece but I tried a lot of stuff while drawing it.

Bedtime sketch

Just a little bedtime sketch I made yesterday. I wanted to draw some more hair movement studies but I fell asleep with the pen in my hand ;P

Cartoonies...

Since we are blessed with a lot of bank holidays in Sweden I could spend half the day drawing my own stuff. Made some Disney/Glen Kean studies. I find it really fun to draw this kind of stuff. It slowly pushes me to dare draw more crazy features, proportions and expressions. Here's a batch:

As I mentioned yesterday my inspiration is really low atm. An artistic depression? I don't know, I just wanna draw but nothing really good comes out. So how to cure this? Well, usually it works trying to draw something I normally don't, something really hard, something really fun or something really boring. Watching Tarzan yesterday made me think that maybe I should try sketching cartoony characters for a while? I don't do that so often so it should be a both fun and challenging thing to do! Here's one batch:

It's been really nice being here at Nordsken. These three days has broadened my knowledge of a lot of nerd stuff and we've met a lot of different kinds of people, spreading the word about Järnringen's new RPG and have had a lot of fun with people trying out the game!

Nordsken 2013!

Chillin at the Järnringen ( www.jarnringen.com ) booth at Nordsken, a nerd event/festival placed in Skellefteå (Sweden). Main artist for Järnringens new pen and paper RPG is Martin Bergstöm, but I will be helping out too. At Nordsken I'm sketching ideas, live. Livin the dream ;)

A very quick vampire sketch I made today after work. I was inspired by some fashion pictures. I think I should draw photos from fashion magazines more often, could be fun and good practice!

I'm drawing some really cool stuff at work that I can't tell you about at all, but working is easy right now I tell you that! ;)
